Brain Movement Analysis

Brain movement analysis is the measurement and interpretation of how the brain shifts, rotates, or deforms over time, providing insight into neural anatomy, biomechanics, and data quality in neuroscience. It typically compares sequential brain images or motion recordings and uses image registration or computational tracking to estimate displacement and generate quantitative motion patterns. Researchers apply these measurements to correct head motion during neuroimaging, assess tissue dynamics, and relate mechanical changes to brain function or injury. By separating true biological movement from imaging artifacts, the approach improves the reliability of neuroscientific experiments and supports more precise analysis of brain structure and behavior.

(2017)This video demonstrates the imaging of oligodendrocyte mitochondria in organotypic mouse brain slices. The slice is placed inside a bath chamber with continuous fluid circulation and controlled temperature. After setting up various parameters of the confocal microscope, time-lapse images of mitochondria...

Eye movement monitoring (or eye tracking) reveals where in space the eyes linger, when and for how long. Here, we demonstrate how eye tracking can be used to investigate the integrity of memory in multiple participant populations, without requiring verbal, or otherwise explicit, reports.
