Fundamental Frequency

Fundamental frequency is the lowest frequency at which a system naturally oscillates, setting the basic repetition rate of a periodic vibration or sound. It arises from boundary conditions and physical properties such as length, tension, mass, stiffness, and geometry; higher modes generally oscillate at related frequencies and produce harmonics. Measuring or calculating the fundamental frequency helps characterize resonance in strings, air columns, mechanical structures, and electronic circuits. In physics and engineering, it supports pitch analysis, musical instrument design, vibration control, and the detection of changes in material or structural properties.

According to some social psychologists, people tend to overemphasize internal factors as explanations—or attributions—for the behavior of other people. They tend to assume that the behavior of another person is a trait of that person, and to underestimate the power of the situation on the behavior of others. They tend to fail to recognize when the behavior of another is due to situational variables, and thus to the person’s state. This erroneous assumption is called the fundamental attribution...

Fundamentals of Breeding and Weaning

Source: Kay Stewart, RVT, RLATG, CMAR; Valerie A. Schroeder, RVT, RLATG. University of Notre Dame, IN Millions of mice and rats are bred for use in biomedical research each year. Worldwide, there are several large commercial breeding facilities that supply mice to research laboratories, but many facilities also choose to breed mice and rats in-house to reduce costs and increase research options. When breeding in the animal facility, researchers are able to manipulate the genetics of the...

Introduction An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a diagnostic tool for identifying cardiac conditions such as arrhythmias, conduction abnormalities, and myocardial ischemia. Definition An electrocardiogram (ECG) visualizes the heart's electrical activity by tracing the electrical movement associated with each heartbeat on a graph or monitor. As the heart beats, an electrical wave passes through it, correlating with the cardiac cycle events. Parts of an ECG An ECG utilizes electrodes on the skin to...

Solving problems involving definite integrals requires a systematic approach that ensures clarity and efficiency. The first step is understanding the problem by identifying the calculated quantity, whether it involves accumulation, area, or a physical concept like force or probability. It is essential to recognize given conditions, such as the range of integration and any constraints that may affect the solution. Before computing, key properties of definite integrals should be analyzed to...

Fundamentals of Nursing Process I

The nursing process is the core of practice for every registered nurse to deliver holistic, patient-focused care. The following are the five steps in the nursing process. Assessment: A nurse uses an organized, dynamic way to collect and analyze data about the patient. It includes the patient's physiological data and psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors. Diagnosis: A clinical judgment about the patient's condition and their reaction toward actual or...
