Consensus Consistency Distinctiveness

Consensus, consistency, and distinctiveness are three information patterns used in psychology to explain how people attribute the causes of behavior. In Kelley’s covariation model, consensus compares how similarly others respond to the same stimulus, consistency examines whether the individual responds similarly across time, and distinctiveness assesses whether the response occurs mainly with that stimulus rather than others. High or low combinations guide judgments about whether behavior reflects the person, the situation, or an interaction between them. The framework helps researchers study causal reasoning, impression formation, and biases in everyday social judgment, while also supporting analysis of how people interpret behavior in changing contexts.

Source: Hemmerich, J., et al. Protocol for Optimization of Heterologous Protein Production Using Automated Microbioreactor Technology. J. Vis. Exp. (2017).This video demonstrates the use of an automated microbioreactor to monitor bacterial growth and fluorescent protein secretion in response to varying media formulations. A genetically modified bacterium expressing a secretory fluorescent protein is cultured under antibiotic selection and inoculated into nutrient-varied wells. Real-time optical...

Leaf Area Index Estimation Using Three Distinct Methods in Pure Deciduous Stands

2019

An accurate estimation of leaf area index (LAI) is crucial for many models of material and energy fluxes within plant ecosystems and between an ecosystem and the atmospheric boundary layer. Therefore, three methods (litter traps, needle technique, and PCA) for taking precise LAI measurements were in the presented protocol.
