Chromosome Duplication

Ökaryotik bir hücredeki genetik materyal olan DNA, çekirdeğin içinde kromozom adı verilen doğrusal yapılar olarak bulunur.
Kromozomların içinde, çift sarmallı DNA, nükleozomları oluşturmak için öncelikle histon adı verilen oktamerik nükleer proteinlerin etrafına sarılır. Birkaç histon olmayan protein de DNA ile birleşerek DNA paketlenmesine yardımcı olur.

Hücre bölünmesi sırasında kromozom duplikasyon süreci, genom çapında bozulmayı ve kromatinin yeniden birleştirilmesini gerektirir. Soyun yayılmasını sağlamak için kromatin yapısının doğru bir şekilde miras alınması, yeniden birleştirilmesi ve yavru hücrelerde sürdürülmesi gerekir.
