Quasi-smectic A-wetting Sheets

Quasi-smectic A-wetting sheets are ultrathin, partially ordered liquid-crystalline layers that spread across a solid or fluid interface while retaining some smectic A-like structure. Their behavior arises from surface-induced molecular alignment and layer formation, with capillary forces driving spreading while elastic resistance, viscosity, and interfacial energies determine sheet thickness, shape, and stability. In engineering, these sheets provide a model for understanding wetting in anisotropic materials and for controlling thin-film organization at interfaces. Such insights can inform the design of functional coatings, lubricating layers, responsive surfaces, and microscale devices in which interfacial order influences flow, adhesion, or transport.

The manuscript describes a method of phonon-assisted quasi-resonant fluorescence spectroscopy that incorporates both laser-limited resolution and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. This method utilizes optical phonons to provide linewidth-limited resolution spectra of atom-like semiconductor structures in the energy domain. The method is also easily realized with a single spectrometer optical spectroscopy setup.

2024

A balance sheet is a key component of financial statement analysis. It provides a snapshot of a company's financial position at a given time by listing its assets, liabilities, and shareholders' equity. It includes both current and long-lived assets and current and long-term liabilities. Assets reflect what the company owns, such as cash, inventory, and real estate, whereas liabilities represent what the company owes, including debts like loans and accounts payable. Balance sheet analysis is...
