Fluorescent Immunostaining

Fluorescent immunostaining is a microscopy-based technique that uses antibodies tagged with fluorescent molecules to locate specific proteins or other antigens in cells and tissue, making molecular features visible. In a typical workflow, a primary antibody binds the target antigen directly or is detected by a fluorescently labeled secondary antibody; illumination at a suitable wavelength then excites the fluorophore, which emits detectable light. In medicine, the method supports tissue characterization, biomarker localization, pathogen detection, and evaluation of cellular changes in disease. By linking antibody specificity with spatial imaging, fluorescent immunostaining helps researchers and clinicians relate molecular expression to tissue structure and supports diagnostic and biomedical research.
