Q1: What are the two main compartments of forearm muscles that move the hand and fingers?
Forearm muscles are divided into anterior and posterior compartments based on location and function. The anterior compartment muscles flex the wrists, digits, and thumbs while pronating the hand. The posterior compartment muscles extend the wrists, fingers, and thumbs while supinating the hand. Both compartments contain superficial and deep muscle layers with distinct origins and insertions.
