Q1: Where is the thoracic aorta located in the body?
The thoracic aorta is the proximal 20-centimeter section of the descending aorta positioned to the left of the vertebral column. It begins between the T4 and T5 vertebrae and extends to the T12 level, progressing through the mediastinum before entering the diaphragm through the aortic hiatus. This strategic positioning allows it to branch and supply blood to thoracic structures.
Q2: What are the visceral branches of the thoracic aorta?
The thoracic aorta's visceral branches supply blood primarily to internal organs and structures.
