The parts of the human body work together like a team to keep you healthy.
It all starts with cells—the tiny building blocks of life. Each type of cell has a specific job. For example, stomach cells produce acid to help break down food.
When similar cells group together, they form tissues, which perform essential functions. In the stomach, muscle tissue mixes food, while another tissue protects it from acid.
Next, different tissues combine to form organs. Each organ consists of multiple tissues working as a team to perform a specific function.
But organs don’t work alone. They form organ systems that handle complex tasks. The digestive system, for instance, includes organs like the stomach, intestines, and liver, among others, which work together to break down food and absorb nutrients.
Finally, all organ systems support and rely on each other to keep the body running smoothly. The digestive system provides nutrients to the blood, the circulatory system delivers them to cells, and the nervous system controls everything.
