In deze tweedelige studie werd een biologische actuator ontwikkeld met behulp van zeer flexibele polydimethylsiloxaan (PDMS) cantilevers en levende spiercellen (cardiomyocyten) en gekenmerkt. De biologische actuator werd geïntegreerd met een basis gemaakt van gemodificeerde PDMS materialen om een zelfstabiliserende, zwemmende biorobot te bouwen.
