A protocol for the synthesis of bimetallic nanoparticles in ionic liquids and the procedure of their catalytic testing in the selective hydrogenation of unsaturated aldehydes are described.
This method can be used to prepare various mono-and bimetallic nanoparticles with controlled size and shape in a simple, one-part synthesis step in ionic liquids. The main advantage of this technique is that weakly coordinating anions and cations of the ionic liquid directly control nanoparticle nucleation and cross-processes and further provide electrosteric stabilization of the as-formed nanoparticles.Generally, individuals new to this method will struggle, because the experiment has to be experienced in working under air-free conditions.Demonstrating the procedure, will be Yannick Tr
