Ribozymes

الريبوزايمات هي أنواع خاصة من آر إن أيه التي يمكن أن تعمل كإنزيمات. الركائز لمعظم الريبوزايمات التى تحدث بشكل طبيعي هي روابط فوسفوديستر آر إن أيه. الاستثناء الوحيد المعروف هو 23 إس ريبوسومال آر إن أيه 00:00:18.200 00:00:22.130 في الرايبوزايم البكتيري،الذي يحفز تكوين رابطة البيبتايد.الريبوزايمات توجد في جميع أنواع الكائنات الحية و تكون مشابهة للإنزيمات التى أساسها بروتن حيث كلاهما يزيد من معدل التفاعلات. العديد من الريبوزايمات تحتاج أيونات معدنية،مثل المغنيسيوم،كعوامل مساعدة لتحفيز التفاعلات. بعض فئات الانترون يمكنها أن تعمل كريبوزايمات.يتم تصنيف الإنترون إلى خمس فئات متميزة-إنترونات آر إن إيه الرسول النووى،آر إن إيه الناقل النووى العتائق،المجموعة الأولى والمجموعة الثانية إنترونات. إنترونات المجموعة الأولى والثانية تكون ريبوزايمات كبيرة التى طولها العديد من مئات النيوكليوتيدات وتوجد في ميتوكوندريا الفطر و النبات،البلاستيدات الخضراء،العاثيات،والفيروسات حقيقية النواة. هم قادرون على وصل أنفسهم بدون مساعدة أي بروتينات.في حين أن الانترونات النووية يتم قطعها ووصلها بواسطة جسيم التضفير،آر إن أيه وبروتين يحتوي على مركب إنزيم. عادة يكون طول الريبوزايمات الصغيرة من 50 إلى 150 نيوكليتيدة و تكون ذاتية الفصل للزخارف التسلسلية النيوكليوتيدية. توجد هذه في العديد من الفيروسات النباتات آر إن أيه أيضا كما فى فيروس دلتا الالتهاب الكبدي،المسبب المرضى للإنسان.عملية النسخ في هذه الفيروسات ينتج عنها آر إن أيه طويل يحمل وحدات متعددة من الجينوم الفيروسي،حيث كل وحدة تحمل ريبوزايم صغير يشبه رأس المطرقة. هذه الإنزيمات المتباعدة بصفة منتظمة تخضع للشطر الذاتي،ينتج عنه كسر آر إن أيه الطويل إلى أجزاء جينومية فردية. معظم الريبوزايمات تشطر تسلسل النيوكليوتيد الخاص بها ومع ذلك،فإن يمكنه شطر جزيئات آر إن أيه أخرى.ريبنيوكلياز بى يوجد فى بعض البكتيريا ويقوم بمعالجة سلائف آر إن أيه الناقل لإنشاء نهاية 5 ناضجة. الريبوزايمات المتوفرة بصورة طبيعية معروفة بتحفيزها نطاق ضيق من التفاعلات،مثل إنقل الفوسفوريل في الأحماض النووية وتكوين روابط بيبتدية في البروتينات. العلماء خلّقوا ريبوزايمات إصطناعية في المعمل حيث يمكنها أداء مجالات واسعة من التفاعلات،مثل تكوين روابط بين الكربون-الكربون وتفاعلات الأكسدة الاختزال.

Ribozymes are RNA molecules that can act as enzymes. They help speed up specific chemical reactions without being protein enzymes. This makes them an important example of RNA with more than one job in the cell.

Some ribozymes can cut RNA molecules, and others can join them together. This shows that RNA can do catalytic work as well as carry genetic information. Ribozymes are a key part of how scientists think about the many roles of RNA in biology.

One well-known ribozyme is ribonuclease P, or RNase P. It helps process precursor tRNA into mature tRNA by removing extra RNA at one end. This process is important because tRNA must be correctly trimmed before it can function in protein synthesis.
