Negative and Positive Feedback

عملية الاستتباب

الهدف منها هو الحفاظ على التوازن حول نقطة أو قيمة تسمى نقطة التحديد. في حين أن هناك تقلبات طبيعية تبعد الجسم عن نقطة الضبط، فتحاول أنظمته عادة العودة إلى هذه النقطة. يسمى التغيير في البيئة المحيطة الداخلية أو الخارجية بالحافز ويتم استشعاره بواسطة مستقبلات. هذه الاستجابة عبارة عن ضبط العامل الذي كان سببا في الانحراف نحو نقطة التحديد من جديد.

السيطرة على حالة الاستتباب

نقطة الضبط

يمكن إجراء تغييرات في مجموعة من أجهزة الجسم بغية الحفاظ على نقطة محددة تخص جهازا آخر. وهذا ما يسمى بالتأقلم. ويحدث هذا، على سبيل المثال، عندما يهاجر كائن ما إلى ارتفاع أعلى من ذلك الذي اعتاد عليه، ومن أجل التكيف مع انخفاض مستويات الأكسجين الموجودة في ارتفاعات عالية، يقوم الجسم بزيادة عدد خلايا الدم الحمراء المنتشرة في الدم لضمان توصيل الأكسجين الكافي إلى الأنسجة. وكمثال آخر على هذا التأقلم، فإن بعض الحيوانات لديها تغيرات موسمية تطرأ على فرائها: فيكون أثقل في الشتاء لضمان الاحتفاظ بالحرارة الكافية،و أخف في الصيف من أجل الحفاظ على درجة حرارة الجسم من الارتفاع إلى مستويات ضارة.
