Hand Position Tracking

Hand position tracking is the measurement of where a person’s hands are located and how they move over time, providing quantitative information about behavior and interaction. The technique uses video cameras, depth sensors, or motion-capture systems to detect hand landmarks, estimate their three-dimensional coordinates, and convert successive positions into trajectories, speeds, and gestures. In behavioral research, these measurements help characterize reaching, pointing, grasping, communication, and task performance without relying solely on subjective observation. Hand position tracking can support studies of motor control, human-computer interaction, social behavior, and neurological function while enabling precise comparisons across individuals, tasks, and experimental conditions.

Source: Laboratory of Jonathan Flombaum—Johns Hopkins University Reaching for objects, walking without hitting obstacles, landing on a chair as you sit (instead of falling to the floor), these and all our physical actions depend on an ability to perceive our own bodies in space, to know where our limbs are relative to one another and relative to the rest of the world. One way that the human brain encodes this information is called proprioception, the brain relies on its own control and feedback...

We present a suite of standardized single- and paired-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) recording protocols, with options for conventional amplitude measurements and threshold-tracking. This program can control three different types of magnetic stimulators and is designed to enable all tests to be performed conveniently by a single operator.

Asepsis is the practice of preventing or breaking the chain of infection. The nurse employs aseptic techniques to prevent the spread of microorganisms and reduce the risk of diseases. Hand hygiene is the cornerstone of aseptic techniques and is classified into medical and surgical asepsis. Medical asepsis includes hand hygiene and the use of gloves. Surgical asepsis, or the sterile technique, refers to practices that render and keep objects and areas free of microorganisms. Hand washing...
