Limb Preference Training

Limb preference training is a behavioral method used to examine and shape an individual's tendency to use one limb over another during specific tasks. It typically involves presenting repeated motor tasks, recording which limb is selected, and, when appropriate, reinforcing use of a designated limb to distinguish spontaneous preference from learned performance. This approach helps researchers investigate behavioral lateralization, motor control, learning, and the effects of task demands on limb choice. In comparative behavior studies, limb preference training can clarify how animals acquire motor biases and how consistent limb use relates to cognition, coordination, and adaptive behavior.

Reading in color is a new method for training letter-color associations that are typically found only in grapheme-color synesthetes. It involves an implicit form of training that has potential for long-term associative training methods because the training is a byproduct of reading and any text can be colored.
