Biostation Ct Incubator

The BioStation CT Incubator is a controlled cell-culture imaging system that maintains living cells under incubator conditions while enabling repeated observation over time. It combines environmental regulation, including temperature and carbon dioxide control, with integrated microscopy so researchers can capture time-lapse images without routinely removing cultures from the chamber. This setup supports monitoring cell growth, morphology, migration, division, and other dynamic biological behaviors in a stable environment. In biology research, the system helps connect cellular changes with experimental treatments and reduces disruption caused by conventional endpoint sampling, making it useful for cell biology, drug-response studies, and long-term live-cell analysis.

Source: Peiman Shahbeigi-Roodposhti and Sina Shahbazmohamadi, Biomedical Engineering Department, University of Connecticut, Storrs, Connecticut It's a little-known fact that the discovery and (inadvertent) use of X-rays garnered the first ever Nobel Prize in Physics. The famous X-ray image of Dr. Röntgen's wife's hand from 1895 that sent shock waves through the scientific community looks like most modern day 2D medical X-ray images. Though it is not the newest technology, X-ray absorption...

Combined SPECT and CT Imaging to Visualize Cardiac Functionality

Source: Alycia G. Berman, James A. Schaber, and Craig J. Goergen, Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana Here we will demonstrate the fundamentals of single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) imaging using mice. The technique involves injecting a radionuclide into a mouse, imaging the animal after it is distributed throughout the body, and then reconstructing the produced images to create a volumetric dataset. This can...

2022

Laboratory soil warming experiments usually employ two or more constant temperatures in multiple chambers. By presenting a sophisticated environmental chamber, we provide an accurate temperature control method to imitate the magnitude and amplitude of in situ soil temperature and improve the experimental design of soil incubation studies.

A General Method for Evaluating Incubation of Sucrose Craving in Rats

Responding for food or drug-paired cues increases over the course of a period of abstinence and this may relate to an increased susceptibility to relapse behaviors. Here we detail a procedure for evaluating this "incubation of craving" in rats that have self-administered sucrose.

A Technique for the Prolonged Incubation of Neuronal Tissue of the Retina

2025

This video demonstrates a method for prolonged incubation of neuronal tissue of the retina. Eyecups containing retina are obtained from a mouse eye; the inner limiting membrane (ILM) is enzymatically digested to expose the neuronal cells of the retina, and either the treated eyecup or the isolated retina is transferred to a specialized incubator for prolonged incubation at a low temperature.
