Embryo Splitting Method

The embryo splitting method is a reproductive and developmental biology technique that divides an early embryo into two or more separate cell groups, potentially producing genetically identical embryos. During the procedure, cells from a cleavage-stage embryo or morula are separated and cultured under conditions that support continued development; each cell group can form a new embryo and may reach the blastocyst stage before transfer. The method provides a model for studying early cell differentiation, embryo viability, and the basis of monozygotic twinning. It is also used in animal breeding and research on embryo development, although efficiency depends on embryo quality and culture conditions.

Source: Laboratories of Jonas T. Kaplan and Sarah I. Gimbel—University of Southern California The study of how damage to the brain affects cognitive functioning has historically been one of the most important tools for cognitive neuroscience. While the brain is one of the most well protected parts of the body, there are many events that can affect the functioning of the brain. Vascular issues, tumors, degenerative diseases, infections, blunt force traumas, and neurosurgery are just some of the...

This video demonstrates New culture, a method by which chick embryos are cultured outside the egg for up to 24 hr. This method enables one to study early development (primitive streak to 14 som.), a period corresponding to E7-9 in mouse. Applications of this technique include electroporation, in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry.

A Method of Permeabilization of Drosophila Embryos for Assays of Small Molecule Activity

Introduction of small molecules to the developing Drosophila embryo offers great potential for characterizing biological activity of novel compounds, drugs, and toxins as well as for probing fundamental developmental pathways. Methods described herein outline steps that overcome natural barriers to this approach, expanding the utility of the Drosophila embryo model.

Whole embryo culture technique allows us to culture mouse and rat embryos ex vivo condition during limited periods corresponding to midgestation stages. In this video protocol, we demonstrate our standard procedures of rat whole embryo culture after E12.5 using the rotator-type bottle culture system.

Stock Split

2025

A stock split is a corporate action aimed at increasing the number of a company's shares by dividing its existing shares into multiple new ones. This adjustment reduces the per-share price without altering the company's overall market capitalization, thereby making shares more affordable to investors and enhancing trading flexibility. Stock splits are often employed by companies whose stock prices have risen significantly, making their shares less accessible to retail investors. Lowering the...
