Fat Deposition Model

Fat deposition models are experimental systems used to represent how lipids accumulate in cells, tissues, or whole organisms, making them useful for studying energy storage and metabolic disease. They reproduce fat accumulation by altering or measuring processes such as adipocyte differentiation, fatty-acid uptake, triglyceride synthesis, and lipid storage under defined nutritional, hormonal, or genetic conditions. In biology, these models help researchers compare tissue responses, identify molecular regulators of lipid metabolism, and evaluate potential interventions for obesity, insulin resistance, and related disorders. Their value depends on how closely the model reflects human physiology and the specific pattern of fat deposition being investigated.
