Food Water Supply

Food water supply refers to the availability of food and water needed to sustain organisms, populations, and ecosystems. In biology, organisms obtain water through drinking, absorption, or water-rich foods, while nutrients enter through feeding and are processed by digestion, transport, and cellular metabolism; plants also depend on water for photosynthesis and mineral movement. The balance between supply and demand influences growth, reproduction, health, and survival. Studying food and water supply helps researchers understand nutrition, ecological relationships, resource competition, population dynamics, and the biological effects of scarcity or unequal access.

2023

Source: Laboratories of Margaret Workman and Kimberly Frye - Depaul University Genetic modification of foods has been a controversial issue due to debated concerns over health and environmental safety. This experiment demonstrates technical understanding of how food DNA is genetically identified, allowing for educated decision making about the safety and potential dangers of using genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in food supplies. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is used to amplify food DNA...

Supply is a fundamental concept in economics that refers to the quantity of goods and services that producers are willing and able to offer for sale at various prices within a given period. It represents the relationship between the price of a product and the quantity supplied. Generally as prices rise, producers are typically motivated to supply more goods or services to the market, increasing the quantity supplied. Conversely, when prices fall, producers may reduce the quantity supplied as it...

Individuals, organizations, resources, activities, and technology are all involved in creating and selling a product. The process typically begins with sourcing raw materials from suppliers, progresses through manufacturing to produce finished goods, continues with warehousing, and culminates in distribution to consumers. Supply Chain Management, or SCM oversees the seamless flow of goods, information, and finances across these stages, aiming to optimize costs, manage inventory levels...

States of Water

Water exists in any one of the three classical states: solid (ice), liquid (water), and gas (steam or water vapor). The state of water depends on i) the intermolecular forces that draw molecules together and ii) the kinetic energy that leads to movements that pull them apart. Water freezes when the intermolecular forces are greater than the kinetic energy. Unlike most other substances, water is less dense in its solid state than in its liquid state. This is because each water molecule can form...

The Money Supply I

The money multiplier model shows the link between the monetary base and the money supply. In this model, the public chooses to hold money either as currency or as deposits. Currency, denoted by C, is the cash people keep with them, while deposits, shown as D, are the funds kept in bank accounts. The currency–deposit ratio, cr, is the amount of currency held by the public divided by the amount of deposits kept in banks. The currency–deposit ratio shows how much people prefer to hold in cash...
