Laparoscopic Liver Resection

Laparoscopic liver resection is a minimally invasive surgical technique that removes a diseased or damaged portion of the liver through small abdominal incisions, offering an alternative to open surgery. Surgeons use a laparoscope for magnified visualization and specialized instruments to dissect liver tissue, control blood vessels and bile ducts, and extract the resected segment while preserving healthy parenchyma. The approach is used primarily to treat selected benign and malignant liver tumors and other localized lesions. By reducing surgical trauma, it can support shorter hospital stays, less postoperative pain, and faster recovery, although patient selection depends on lesion location, size, and liver function.
