Photodetector Detection

Photodetector detection is the measurement of light by converting incoming photons into an electrical signal, a process that enables quantitative analysis in biological research. When light reaches a photosensitive material, it generates mobile charge carriers that produce a measurable current or voltage; signal strength depends on factors such as photon intensity, wavelength, and detector sensitivity. In biology, photodetectors support fluorescence measurement, microscopy, spectroscopic analysis, and monitoring of light-responsive systems. Their ability to detect weak or rapidly changing optical signals helps researchers quantify molecular activity, characterize cells and tissues, and develop sensitive analytical and imaging tools.

2015

We offered a method to directly synthesize high c-axis (0002) ZnO thin film by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition. The as-synthesized ZnO thin film combined with Pt interdigitated electrode was used as sensing layer for ultraviolet photodetector, showing a high performance through a combination of its good responsivity and reliability.

Biolayer Interferometry Technology to Detect Interactions between Ligand and Analyte

2025

In this video, we demonstrate biolayer interferometry (BLI) technology to detect the intermolecular interactions between ligands and target analytes in real-time. BLI measures changes in the interference pattern of white light reflected off a layer of immobilized ligands on a biosensor surface as they interact with analytes in solution.
