Protease Inhibitor Cocktail

A protease inhibitor cocktail is a mixture of compounds used to limit protein degradation during biological sample preparation, helping preserve native protein abundance and structure. Its components target different protease classes, including serine, cysteine, aspartic, and metalloproteases, by blocking catalytic sites or chelating essential metal ions, although activity depends on the formulation and experimental conditions. In biology, these cocktails are commonly added during cell lysis, tissue extraction, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and enzyme assays. Selecting compatible inhibitors helps maintain reliable protein measurements while minimizing interference with downstream analyses.

Eukaryotic Transcription Inhibitors

2020

Certain biochemical processes, such as embryonic development and cell growth regulation, depend on the repression of specific genes. DNA binding proteins known as eukaryotic transcription inhibitors regulate the repression of gene expression in eukaryotes. The presence of these inhibitors at the required location and time in the cell is triggered by the presence of hormones and additional signals from other cells. Eukaryotic transcription inhibitors usually contain two distinct domains, a DNA...
