Silicone Rubber Chamber

A silicone rubber chamber is a flexible laboratory enclosure that holds biological samples or cell cultures within a defined space, helping researchers control the local experimental environment. Its molded silicone walls create a bounded well that can rest against a glass slide or other support, containing culture medium while preserving access for observation, sampling, or treatment. In biology, these chambers support cell culture, live-cell microscopy, tissue studies, and experiments that require localized exposure to chemicals, mechanical conditions, or changing media. Their adaptability and compatibility with imaging platforms make them useful for studying cell behavior under controlled laboratory conditions.

The Rubber Hand Illusion

2023

Source: Laboratory of Jonathan Flombaum—Johns Hopkins University Reaching for objects, walking without hitting obstacles, landing on a chair as you sit (instead of falling to the floor), these and all our physical actions depend on an ability to perceive our own bodies in space, to know where our limbs are relative to one another and relative to the rest of the world. One way that the human brain encodes this information is called proprioception, the brain relies on its own control and feedback...

2013

We demonstrate how an objective measure can be employed in the widely employed rubber hand illusion paradigm. This measure is obtained by modifying the well-established crossmodal congruency task. This task allows the investigation of multisensory processes which are critical for modulations of body representations as in the rubber hand illusion.

Fabrication and Optimization of Type II Silicon Clathrate Films

2025

The two-thermal annealing method enables the fabrication of thin films of type II semiconductor silicon clathrate. Post-synthesis treatments, including thermal pressing and reactive ion etching, were performed to improve the material properties. This approach provides an accessible pathway for fabricating tunable clathrate films suitable for next-generation electronic and photonic devices.
