Skull Bones

Skull bones are the hard, specialized bones that form the head’s framework, protect the brain and sensory organs, and shape the face. In biology, they are grouped into cranial and facial bones, which connect mainly through fibrous sutures; openings called foramina allow nerves and blood vessels to pass, while bone tissue continuously remodels in response to growth and mechanical demands. Studying skull bones helps explain development, anatomy, injury, and disorders such as fractures or abnormal suture closure.
