Tissue Protein Extraction

Tissue protein extraction is the process of isolating proteins from biological tissue for analysis, helping researchers investigate cellular structure, function, and changes associated with disease or development. The method typically disrupts tissue through mechanical homogenization in a lysis buffer, which breaks open cells and solubilizes proteins; centrifugation then separates the protein-containing extract from insoluble debris, while protease inhibitors help preserve protein integrity. Extracted proteins can be quantified and examined using techniques such as gel electrophoresis, immunoblotting, or mass spectrometry. In biology, this workflow supports studies of protein expression, signaling pathways, biomarkers, and tissue-specific responses.
