Ecm Mimic Gel

An ECM mimic gel is a three-dimensional biomaterial designed to reproduce key biochemical and mechanical features of the extracellular matrix, which shapes how cells grow, move, and respond to signals. In cancer research, these hydrogels present matrix-derived ligands and provide tunable properties such as stiffness, porosity, and degradability, allowing cells to interact with a controlled tissue-like environment. Researchers use ECM mimic gels to model tumor architecture, study invasion and cell-matrix signaling, and evaluate treatment responses in three-dimensional cultures. By better representing the tumor microenvironment than rigid two-dimensional substrates, these systems can improve the physiological relevance of cancer models and support drug development.
