Organ Engraftment Study

Organ Engraftment Study is the investigation of how a transplanted organ or tissue establishes and maintains functional connections within a recipient, a process central to transplantation biology and cancer research. After implantation, the graft must revascularize, restore tissue function, and interact with the recipient’s immune system, which may recognize donor antigens and trigger rejection. Researchers assess engraftment through anatomical integration, blood flow, cellular viability, immune responses, and organ performance. These studies help evaluate transplantation strategies, understand graft failure, and develop models for examining how tumors, treatments, or altered immune states influence tissue survival and regeneration.

Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a difficult to treat B cell disorder and it is equally difficult to establish a xenograft mouse model of primary MCL to study and develop therapeutics. Here, we describe the successful establishment of MCL xenografts in mice to help understand its underlying biology.

Adenocarcinoma Engraftment: A Method to Implant Cancer Cells into the Murine Lungs

We describe an in vivo fluorescence imaging protocol to monitor muscle regeneration by GFP-labeled myoblasts after transplantation into skeletal muscles of both healthy and dystrophic mice. This protocol can be adapted to study muscle regeneration by transplantation of other types of cells and in other muscular conditions as well.

Organ Conditioned Medium: Generating Medium from Harvested Organ Cells for Metastatic Cancer Studies

2023

This video describes a method of generating an organ conditioned medium derived from the mouse liver. This model system can be used to identify and study organ-derived soluble factors and their effects on the organ tropism and metastatic behavior of cancer cells.
