Organoid Formation

Organoid formation is the process by which stem cells or tissue-derived cells self-organize into three-dimensional, tissue-like structures that model key features of an organ or tumor. In a supportive extracellular matrix and controlled growth-factor environment, cells proliferate, differentiate, and arrange themselves through cell signaling and spatial interactions. In cancer research, organoids generated from tumors or patient samples can preserve aspects of tumor architecture, genetic diversity, and treatment response. These models support studies of cancer development, drug screening, therapy resistance, and personalized treatment strategies while providing a more physiologically relevant system than conventional two-dimensional cell cultures.
