Pump-probe Data Analysis

Pump-probe data analysis is the process of extracting time-dependent chemical information from measurements in which one light pulse initiates a system and a delayed pulse monitors its response. Analysts vary the pump-probe delay and evaluate changes in transient absorption, reflectance, or related signals to construct kinetic traces and spectra, then fit these data with suitable models to estimate lifetimes, rate constants, and evolving species. In chemistry, the approach reveals excited-state relaxation, bond formation or cleavage, electron and energy transfer, and other ultrafast reaction pathways. Careful baseline correction, instrument-response characterization, and uncertainty assessment help distinguish genuine molecular dynamics from experimental artifacts.

The current article describes the basics of multivariate analysis and contrasts it to the more commonly used voxel-wise univariate analysis. Both types of analysis are applied to a clinical-neuroscience data set. Supplementary split-half simulations show better replication of the multivariate results in independent data sets.

ATP Driven Pumps III: V-type Pumps

2023

V-type pumps are ATP-driven pumps found in the vacuolar membranes of plants, yeast, endosomal and lysosomal membranes of animal cells, plasma membranes of a few specialized eukaryotic cells, and some prokaryotes. They are also known as the V1Vo-ATPase, that couple ATP hydrolysis to transport protons against a concentration gradient. The peripheral or cytosolic V1 domain with eight subunits is involved in ATP hydrolysis. The integral or transmembrane V0 domain containing at least five subunits...
