Health Status Evaluation

Health status evaluation is the systematic assessment of an individual’s physical, mental, and functional well-being to identify current health needs and guide clinical care. It combines patient history, physical examination, review of symptoms, and, when appropriate, laboratory or imaging results to characterize health status, detect abnormalities, and establish a baseline for comparison. Clinicians use these findings to support diagnosis, estimate risks, prioritize interventions, monitor changes over time, and evaluate treatment outcomes. In clinical practice, consistent health status evaluation promotes early recognition of disease, informed decision-making, and more individualized patient management.
