Cuff Inflation

Cuff inflation is the controlled introduction of air into an inflatable medical cuff to apply circumferential pressure around a body part or inserted device. In airway management, inflation expands the cuff against the tracheal wall, creating a seal that supports ventilation and helps limit leakage or aspiration; clinicians adjust cuff pressure to balance effective sealing with protection of surrounding tissue. Similar pressure-based principles support blood pressure measurement, where an inflatable cuff temporarily compresses an artery and pressure changes are detected during deflation. Proper technique, monitoring, and equipment selection improve measurement accuracy, airway safety, and patient outcomes in clinical practice.

2017

Among abdominal solid organ transplantation, pancreatic grafts are prone to develop severe ischemia reperfusion injury-associated graft damage, leading eventually to early graft loss. This protocol describes a model of murine pancreas transplantation using a non-suture cuff technique, ideally suited for analyzing these early, deleterious damages.

The Ripple Effect of Inflation

2025

Inflation is often understood as a rise in prices, but its deeper impact lies in how it distorts economic behavior and financial decision-making. Even moderate inflation can shift the incentives for spending, saving, and wage negotiation, making it a critical factor in economic stability and personal financial planning.Erosion of Purchasing Power and Real ReturnsAs inflation progresses, the real value of money declines. This means consumers need more currency to purchase the same goods and...
