Gold Nanopyramid Array

A gold nanopyramid array is an engineered surface containing regularly arranged, pyramid-shaped gold nanostructures that concentrate and manipulate light at the nanoscale. When illuminated, the pyramids support localized surface plasmon resonances, in which conduction electrons oscillate collectively and generate intense electromagnetic fields near their sharp tips and gaps. These plasmonic hotspots amplify optical signals from nearby molecules, making the arrays useful for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, chemical and biological sensing, and nanoscale photonic devices. By controlling pyramid size, spacing, and geometry, engineers can tune the optical response, improve detection sensitivity, and develop compact platforms for analytical and biomedical research.
