Manufacturing Process

Manufacturing processes are organized methods for converting raw materials or components into products with defined shapes, properties, and tolerances, making them central to engineering design and production. They work by applying controlled operations such as casting, forming, machining, joining, or additive deposition, while managing variables including temperature, force, material behavior, tooling, and dimensional accuracy. Engineers select and combine processes according to a product’s function, geometry, material, production volume, cost, and quality requirements. Understanding these relationships supports efficient manufacturing, reduces waste and defects, enables automation and quality control, and guides the development of advanced products across aerospace, automotive, biomedical, and energy industries.

Formulation and Manufacturing Process: Physical Attributes of Generic Tablets and Capsules

2025

Bioequivalence in generic drugs, such as tablets and capsules, refers to their pharmaceutical equivalence to the brand-name counterparts. However, for therapeutic equivalence, manufacturers must also consider physical attributes like size, shape, and weight (FDA Guidance for Industry, December 2003). Discrepancies in these aspects could impact patient compliance and cause medication errors. For instance, swallowing difficulties, often experienced with larger tablets or capsules, can lead to...

Steel Manufacturing

Steel manufacturing is a multi-stage process that begins by smelting iron ore into cast iron in a blast furnace. This initial stage involves layering iron ore with coke, a type of fuel, and crushed limestone within the furnace. The coke is ignited with a high volume of air, leading to the creation of carbon monoxide, which acts to reduce the iron ore to pure iron. During this smelting process, limestone plays a crucial role by forming slag. Slag captures impurities within the molten iron, such...

Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) constitute a foundational set of guidelines that ensure the production of safe, consistent, and high-quality products, particularly in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and food processing. These protocols encompass all aspects of production, from the sourcing of raw materials to the final distribution of the finished product.A core pillar of GMP is stringent hygiene and sanitation across all production environments. This includes routine...
