Temporary Benchmark

A temporary benchmark is a provisional reference value, test case, or performance standard used to evaluate engineering designs when a final baseline is not yet available. Engineers establish it from defined measurements, operating conditions, or representative datasets, then compare prototypes, simulations, or processes against the same criteria to quantify performance and identify deviations. Because it provides a consistent point of comparison during early development, a temporary benchmark supports design decisions, troubleshooting, validation, and progress tracking. It may be revised or replaced as more reliable data, requirements, or permanent industry standards become available.

Four Temporary Waterslide Designs Adapted to Different Slope Conditions to Encourage Child Socialization in Playgrounds

2022

Early life social learning is enhanced by interactions with effectively designed environments. Four events were held at different city parks using inexpensive, temporary waterslides to stimulate social learning. This study describes the prototypes used and the evaluation of the children's interactions.

Here, we present protocols for the synthesis of disaccharide nucleosides by the regioselective O-glycosylation of ribonucleosides via a temporary protection of their 2',3'-diol moieties utilizing a cyclic boronic ester. This method applies to several unprotected nucleosides such as adenosine, guanosine, cytidine, uridine, 5-methyluridine, and 5-fluorouridine to give corresponding disaccharide nucleosides.

A Computational Pipeline for Intergenic/Intragenic Enhancer RNA Quantification in Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells

This protocol provides a streamlined computational pipeline for quantifying nascent enhancer transcripts. By integrating chromatin accessibility, chromatin feature, and transcriptional data, it enables accurate detection and strand-specific analysis of enhancer activity in complex intragenic regions, while remaining accessible to researchers without extensive bioinformatics training.
