Wrench System

A wrench system is a compact representation of a three-dimensional force system, combining a resultant force with its associated moment about a reference point. By translating each applied force to a common origin and summing forces and moments, engineers obtain the wrench’s force and moment vectors; when these vectors are parallel, the system has a central axis and can be described as a screw-like loading state. In engineering mechanics, wrench systems simplify the analysis of rigid bodies, robotic manipulators, machine joints, and structural loads by revealing net translation and rotation effects. They support equilibrium assessment, motion control, load design, and failure prevention.
