X-axis Comparison Method

The X-axis Comparison Method is a mathematical approach for comparing functions or plotted relationships by examining their values at the same positions along the x-axis. For selected x-values, calculate or read the corresponding y-values, then compare the resulting points or vertical distances from the x-axis to determine which function is larger, smaller, or equal. This method helps identify intersections, intervals of relative magnitude, and changes in graph behavior. In mathematics, it supports function analysis, inequality solving, graph interpretation, and the study of relationships represented visually or numerically.

This protocol describes the use of three different methods for analyzing cell proliferation in breast cancer cell lines. This includes the use of conventional cell counting, luminescence-based cell viability, and cell counting through the use of a cell imager. Each offers advantages for the reproducible measurement of cell proliferation.

Hypothalamic-Pituitary Axis

2019

The response to stress—be it physical or psychological, acute or chronic—involves activation of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis. The HPA axis is part of the neuroendocrine system because it involves both neuronal and hormonal communication. Its function is to regulate homeostatic systems—metabolic, cardiovascular, and immune—providing the necessary means to respond to a stressor. What Happens During Stress In response to stress, the neurons in the hypothalamus release...

Renal Drug Clearance: Comparison Between Renal Excretion Methods

2025

Renal clearance is a critical parameter encompassing kidney filtration, secretion, and reabsorption processes. It is calculated using a specific equation to determine the rate at which the kidneys clear a drug. Renal clearance is often associated with the renal glomerular filtration rate (GFR), which represents the rate at which plasma is filtered through the glomeruli in the kidney. When drug reabsorption is minimal and there is no active secretion, renal clearance is closely related to the...
