Cisplatin Injection

Cisplatin injection is an intravenous platinum-based chemotherapy medicine that treats several cancers by damaging tumor-cell DNA. After entering cells, its platinum center forms covalent bonds with DNA bases, producing intra- and interstrand crosslinks that distort the DNA helix and disrupt replication and transcription. This damage can trigger cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis, particularly in rapidly dividing malignant cells, although healthy tissues may also be affected. In medicine, cisplatin is used alone or in combination regimens for cancers such as testicular, ovarian, bladder, lung, and head and neck cancers; clinical use requires careful dosing and monitoring for nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity, neurotoxicity, and myelosuppression.

2021

This protocol describes the procedures to induce Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in adult zebrafish using cisplatin as a nephrotoxic agent. We detailed the steps to evaluate the reproducibility of the technique and two techniques to analyze inflammation and cell death in the renal tissue, flow cytometry and TUNEL, respectively.

Knockdown of FAM83A to Verify Its Role in Cervical Cancer Cell Growth and Cisplatin Sensitivity

2024

Here, we show the procedures for FAM83A knockdown; the assays to detect its effects on proliferation, migration, and invasion of cervical cancer cells; and the sensitization of these cells to cisplatin. This study provides a promising target gene for cervical cancer and a reference for further drug research.

After neural tube formation, the neuroepithelium constricts and folds while the tube fills with embryonic cerebrospinal fluid (eCSF) to form the embryonic brain ventricles. We developed this ventricle injection technique to better visualize the fluid filled space in contrast to the neuroepithelial shape in a live embryo.
