Navigational Bronchoscopy

Navigational bronchoscopy is a minimally invasive technique that guides a bronchoscope through the airways to reach and evaluate peripheral lung lesions that may be difficult to access with conventional bronchoscopy. Using preprocedural CT images and real-time airway navigation, the system maps the bronchial tree and directs biopsy instruments along a planned route to a targeted location. The approach can support tissue sampling, lesion localization, and selected therapeutic procedures while potentially reducing the need for more invasive methods. In medicine, navigational bronchoscopy contributes to earlier diagnosis and individualized management of pulmonary nodules and other focal lung abnormalities.

Endoscopy is a non-surgical medical technique used to examine a person's internal organs and vessels. This lesson will focus on two types of endoscopic studies: bronchoscopy and thoracoscopy. Bronchoscopy Description Bronchoscopy is a procedure that involves direct visualization of the larynx, trachea, and bronchi for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. A flexible fiber optic or rigid bronchoscope is used to carry out the procedure. The fiber-optic bronchoscope is more frequently used due to...

Children who have complex communication needs can benefit from the use of a speech-generating device (SGD). Cognitive skills were identified as having an impact on the ability to navigate between levels of SGDs. This protocol describes the steps needed for Speech-language Pathologists to assess cognitive skills and navigational abilities.
