Postoperative Patients

Postoperative patients are individuals recovering after a surgical procedure, requiring coordinated care to restore physiological stability, manage symptoms, and prevent complications. During this period, clinicians monitor vital signs, pain, wound healing, fluid balance, mobility, and organ function while supporting the body’s inflammatory and tissue-repair responses; anesthesia effects and surgical stress can temporarily alter these processes. Postoperative assessment guides decisions about analgesia, infection prevention, nutrition, rehabilitation, and discharge readiness. Studying postoperative care helps medical teams recognize complications early, improve recovery, reduce hospital stays, and tailor treatment to the procedure and each patient’s clinical needs.
