Automated Assessment

Automated assessment is the use of software to evaluate performance, behavior, or biological measurements according to predefined criteria, improving consistency and efficiency. In neuroscience, systems typically preprocess neural or behavioral data, extract measurable features, and apply rule-based algorithms or statistical and machine-learning models to generate scores, classifications, or alerts. These tools can assess cognitive-task performance, analyze signals such as electroencephalography, and support the evaluation of neurological function across research and clinical settings. By reducing manual scoring and enabling analysis of large datasets, automated assessment strengthens reproducibility, supports longitudinal studies, and may help identify subtle patterns that inform diagnosis, treatment, and personalized neuroscience research.
