Electrode Trajectory

An electrode trajectory is the planned three-dimensional path an electrode follows as it enters neural tissue, a critical factor in accurately targeting brain structures for recording or stimulation. Researchers define the trajectory from stereotaxic coordinates, then guide the electrode along that path while accounting for tissue anatomy, depth, and potential obstacles such as blood vessels. Careful trajectory planning supports reliable electrophysiological recordings, targeted stimulation, and chronic neural interfaces while helping minimize tissue disruption. In neuroscience, trajectory data also aid the interpretation of neural signals by linking measured activity to specific anatomical locations and functional circuits.

Orthogonal Trajectories

2026

Orthogonal trajectories describe the geometric relationship between two families of curves that intersect each other at right angles. One illustrative case involves a family of parabolas that open sideways along the x-axis. These curves share a common shape but differ by a scaling parameter, resulting in a set of curves that all pass through the origin and widen at different rates.Determining Orthogonal TrajectoriesTo identify the orthogonal trajectories for these parabolas, the first step...

We describe a protocol to observe and analyze cell rolling trajectories on asymmetric receptor-patterned substrates. The resulting data are useful for engineering of receptor-patterned substrates for label-free cell separation and analysis.

How neuronal networks are established in the embryonic brain is a fundamental question in developmental neurobiology. Here we combined an electroporation technique with novel genetic tools, such as Cre/Lox–plasmids and PiggyBac-mediated DNA transposition system in the avian hindbrain to label dorsal interneurons and track their axonal projections and synaptic targets at various developmental stages.

On comparing the reactivity of silver and lead, it is observed that the two ionic species, Ag+ (aq) and Pb2+ (aq), show a difference in their redox reactivity towards copper: the silver ion undergoes spontaneous reduction, while the lead ion does not. This relative redox activity can be easily quantified in electrochemical cells by a property called cell potential. This property is commonly known as cell voltage in electrochemistry, and it is a measure of the energy which accompanies the charge...
