Led Implantation

LED implantation is a neuroscience technique that places a light-emitting diode near selected neural tissue to deliver precisely timed optical stimulation in living animals. When electrical current passes through the diode, it produces light that can activate light-sensitive neural proteins, allowing researchers to control or influence defined neuronal populations with high temporal precision. This approach supports studies of brain circuits, behavior, and neural function, particularly when paired with optogenetic methods. By linking controlled illumination to measurable physiological or behavioral outcomes, LED implantation helps clarify how specific neural pathways contribute to normal function and neurological disease.

2012

Dual-chamber implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) may improve detection of atrial fibrillation as well as differentiation of tachycardias. However, this advantage is undermined by complications associated with the second electrode, which is required in conventional dual chamber devices. Therefore, BIOTRONIK has developed a new electrode called the LinoxSMART S DX that, when used in conjunction with the Lumax DX ICD, offers dual-chamber detection without the risks associated with the...
