Roi Tool Quantification

ROI tool quantification is a method for measuring signal intensity, structure, or activity within defined regions of interest in neuroscience data. Researchers delineate an ROI on imaging or experimental datasets, apply consistent boundaries and measurement criteria, and extract numerical features such as area, volume, fluorescence, or intensity for comparison across samples or conditions. This approach converts complex neural images into analyzable measurements, supporting studies of brain anatomy, cellular organization, neural activity, and disease-related changes. Careful ROI selection and standardized quantification improve reproducibility, enable statistical analysis, and help link observed spatial patterns to underlying biological processes.

Invertebrate Lifespan Quantification

2023

Many animals naturally stop growing upon reaching adulthood, after which they undergo aging or "senescence" until dying. The amount of time between an organism\'s birth and death is called its lifespan, which can be influenced by various biological and environmental factors. By exposing organisms to different growth conditions, scientists can better understand the factors affecting lifespan. Flies and worms are ideal organisms to perform such experiments, given their short generation time and...

Citations play a key role in academic writing by documenting the evidence that supports scholarly claims. Beyond giving credit to original authors, they show engagement with existing research and strengthen the credibility of an argument. Effective citation practices are central to research literacy because they reflect a writer’s ability to locate, evaluate, and integrate reliable sources into their work. Digital Tools for Citation Management Advances in digital technology have simplified the...

An Analytical Tool that Quantifies Cellular Morphology Changes from Three-dimensional Fluorescence Images

We developed a software platform that utilizes Imaris Neuroscience, ImarisXT and MATLAB to measure the changes in morphology of an undefined shape taken from three-dimensional confocal fluorescence of single cells. This novel approach can be used to quantify changes in cell shape following receptor activation and therefore represents a possible additional tool for drug discovery.
