Stereotactic Ich Underwater Blood Aspiration

Stereotactic intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) underwater blood aspiration is a minimally invasive neurosurgical technique for removing accumulated blood from the brain while limiting disruption of surrounding tissue. Using stereotactic imaging and navigation, clinicians guide an aspiration catheter to the hematoma, where controlled irrigation and suction help mobilize and evacuate blood within a fluid-filled operative environment. The approach may reduce mass effect and pressure on nearby brain structures, supporting treatment of selected hemorrhagic stroke patients. Its clinical and research significance lies in improving precision, evaluating safer alternatives to open surgery, and clarifying how targeted hematoma evacuation affects neurological recovery.

Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) involves image-guided, ablative radiation delivered to cancer targets refractory to chemotherapy or to conventional radiation treatment. The robotic-armed Cyberknife SBRT system, using sophisticated target localization, delivers hypofractionated radiation doses capable of sterilizing cancer targets. This article will consider new therapeutic roles of SBRT for gynecological cancers.

2025

This video demonstrates a stereotactically-guided surgical procedure for ablating the auditory cortex in a rat. The steps include identifying anatomical landmarks in an anesthetized rat secured in a stereotactic frame, creating a window on the skull above the auditory cortex, aspirating the cortical layers, and providing post-operative care to assess the impact of the ablation on sound processing.
