Biography

Dr. Robin L. Cooper obtained a dual BS degree (Chemistry and Zoology) from Texas Tech Univ. in 1983. He obtained a Ph.D. in 1989 in Physiology from the School of Medicine, Texas Tech Univ. He then went on for postdoctoral training (1989-1992) at the University of Basel, Sch. of Medicine, Basel, Switzerland and a second postdoctoral stint (1992-1996) in the Department of Physiology at the Univ. Toronto, Sch. of Medicine, Toronto, Canada. He then joined the Dept. of Biology at the University of Kentucky in 1996 and is now a professor and director of the undergraduate neuroscience program at the University of Kentucky. He also obtained a BSN in nursing in 2012 and practiced nursing as an RN from 2011 to 2017. He has received several teaching awards: Kentucky Academy of Sciences Excellence in high education teaching, Arts and Sciences Excellence in undergraduate mentoring and, Provost Award for excellence in teaching.
