The post-transcriptional modification of mammalian transcripts by A-to-I RNA editing has been recognized as an important mechanism for the generation of molecular diversity and also regulates protein function through recoding of genomic information. As the molecular players of editing are characterized and an increasing number of genes become identified that are subject to A-to-I modification, the potential impact of editing on the etiology or progression of human diseases is realized. Here we review the recent knowledge on where disturbances in A-to-I RNA editing have been correlated with human disease phenotypes.

Wie die molekulare Spieler der Bearbeitung gekennzeichnet sind und eine wachsende Zahl von Gene identifiziert werden, die A-zu-I vorbehalten sind, ist die potenzielle Auswirkungen der Bearbeitung auf der &Auml;tiologie oder Fortschreiten der Krankheiten des Menschen klar. Hier &uuml;berpr&uuml;fen wir die j&uuml;ngste Erkenntnisse &uuml;ber wo St&ouml;rungen im A-zu-I RNA Bearbeitung mit menschlichen Krankheit Ph&auml;notypen korreliert worden haben.

La modificaci&oacute;n postranscripcional de mam&iacute;feros transcritos de RNA A-a-I edici&oacute;n ha sido reconocida como un mecanismo importante para la generaci&oacute;n de diversidad molecular y tambi&eacute;n regula la funci&oacute;n de la prote&iacute;na a trav&eacute;s de la recodificaci&oacute;n de informaci&oacute;n gen&oacute;mica. Como se caracterizan los jugadores moleculares de edici&oacute;n y un creciente n&uacute;mero de genes que est&aacute;n sujetos a modificaciones A-a-I se identifican, se observa el impacto potencial de la edici&oacute;n en la etiolog&iacute;a o la progresi&oacute;n de enfermedades humanas. Aqu&iacute; repasamos los conocimientos recientes en donde los disturbios en la edici&oacute;n de A-a-I RNA se han correlacionado con fenotipos de enfermedad humana.
