High-performance flexible textile electrodes and fiber electrodes are produced simultaneously by a newly proposed effective strategy. Activated carbon fiber cloth (ACFC)/carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and ACFC/MnO2/CNTs composites are designed as high-performance flexible textile electrodes. Theses textiles can also be easily dismantled into individual fiber bundles used as high-performance flexible fiber electrodes.

Simultaneous Production of High-Performance Flexible Textile Electrodes and Fiber Electrodes for Wearable Energy Storage.

Breathable and wearable energy storage is achieved based on an innovative design solution. Carbon nanotube/MnO -decorated air-laid paper electrodes, with outstanding flexibility and good electrochemical performances, are prepared. They are then assembled into solid-state supercapacitors. By making through-holes on the supercapacitors, breathable and flexible supercapacitors are successfully fabricated.

Breathable and Wearable Energy Storage Based on Highly Flexible Paper Electrodes.

Controlling the microstructure of biomass-derived carbon is of essential importance for directing its use. Herein, a hollow spherical carbon (HSC) was prepared from corncob lignin through spray drying and subsequent heat treatment. The HSC, which is characterized by its hierarchically porous structure, delivers high rate capability when it is directly used as electrode material for supercapacitors. This strategy that uses lignin as the precursor avoids the intrinsic difficulty in tuning the microstructure of the biomass-derived carbons and is suitable for mass production for practical use.

A Hollow Spherical Carbon Derived from the Spray Drying of Corncob Lignin for High-Rate-Performance Supercapacitors.

Zn-ion batteries have been widely investigated due to their low cost, high safety and eco-friendliness. We comprehensively evaluate the performance of oxides (MoO, TiO, and FeO), sulfides (MoS, WS, and MnS) and borides (TiB and ZrB) in zinc ion battery systems. It is found that MnS is a good alternative cathode material with a reversible capacity of 221 mA h g, while the other materials show different behaviours.

Investigation of zinc ion storage of transition metal oxides, sulfides, and borides in zinc ion battery systems.

Polymorphous supercapacitors were constructed from flexible three-dimensional carbon network/polyaniline (PANI)/MnO composite textile electrodes. The flexible textile electrodes were fabricated through a layer-by-layer construction strategy: PANI, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and MnO were deposited on activated carbon fiber cloth (ACFC) in turn through an electropolymerization process, "dipping and drying" method, and in situ chemical reaction, respectively. In the fabricated ACFC/PANI/CNTs/MnO textile electrodes, the ACFC/CNT hybrid framework serves as a porous and electrically conductive 3D network for the rapid transmission of electrons and electrolyte ions, where ACFC, PANI, and MnO are high-performance supercapacitor electrode materials. In the electrolyte of HSO solution, the textile electrode-based symmetric supercapacitor delivers superior areal capacitance, energy density, and power density of 4615 mF cm (for single electrode), 157 μW h cm, and 10372 μW cm, respectively, whereas asymmetric supercapacitor assembled with the prepared composite textile as the positive electrode and ACFC as the negative electrode exhibits an improved energy density of 413 μW h cm and a power density of 16120 μW cm. On the basis of the ACFC/PANI/CNTs/MnO textile electrodes, symmetric and asymmetric solid-state textile supercapacitors with a PVA/HSO gel electrolyte were also produced. These solid-state textile supercapacitors exhibit good electrochemical performance and high flexibility. Furthermore, flexible solid-state fiber-like supercapacitors were prepared with fiber bundle electrodes dismantled from the above composite textiles. Overall, this work makes a meaningful exploration of the versatile applications of textile electrodes to produce polymorphous supercapacitors.

Polymorphous Supercapacitors Constructed from Flexible Three-Dimensional Carbon Network/Polyaniline/MnO Composite Textiles.

CsPbBr perovskite quantum dots (PQDs)/ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) composite films were prepared via a one-step method; on the basis of this, both supersaturated recrystallization of CsPbBr PQDs and dissolution of EVA were realized in toluene. The prepared films display outstanding green-emitting performance with high color purity of 92% and photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield of 40.5% at appropriate CsPbBr PQD loading. They possess long-term stable luminescent properties in the air and in water, benefiting from the effective protection of CsPbBr PQDs by the EVA matrix. Besides, the prepared CsPbBr PQDs/EVA films are flexible enough to be repeatedly bent for 1000 cycles while keeping unchanged the PL intensity. The optical properties of the CsPbBr PQDs/EVA films in white light-emitting diodes were also studied by experiments and theoretical simulation. Overall, facile preparation process, good long-term stability, and high flexibility allow our green-emitting CsPbBr PQDs/EVA films to be applied in lighting applications and flexible displays.
