Li-Hsuan Chiu is a biomedical scientist in the Department of Research, Taipei Medical University Shuang-Ho Hospital in Taipei, Taiwan. He received his Pharmacy Degree and a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from Taipei Medical University, Taipei, Taiwan.
Dr. Chiu's doctoral training concentrated on the fundamental molecular biology of stem cell differentiation and biomaterial development. He developed an in-vitro expansion protocols for human primary chondrocyte transplantation without phenotype change or activity loss. His work also concentrated on the biophysical responses of stem cells to various microenvironmental cues and testing novel orthopedic implant designs to trigger bone ingrowth and promote osseointegration.
As a visiting scholar at Harvard Medical School/McLean Hospital, Dr. Chiu contributed to developing novel molecular imaging approach to detect bone metastasis of cancer diseases. He then joined a university spinoff company as a lab director to develop advanced therapies for cancer treatment.
