Courtney L. Jenkins

Courtney Jenkins is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Ball State University. She will be continuing her career as an Assistant Professor at Idaho State University. She received her undergraduate degree with honors in Biochemistry at Saint Louis University. She worked with Jonathan Wilker developing mussel-mimetic adhesives to obtain her PhD at Purdue University in 2015. Her postdoctoral studies were completed at California Institute of Technology with Linda Hsieh-Wilson where she worked to modify the macromolecular structure and sulfation pattern of polymers with pendant glycosaminoglycans. Dr. Jenkins’ research program focuses on creating polysulfides from the petroleum waste product elemental sulfur. Her work seeks to incorporate renewable monomers and recycled petroleum waste to create new polymers that can be developed into functional materials.
