Szilvia Kiriakov is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts USA. She studied biochemical engineering with specialty in advanced biotechnology Budapest University of Technology and Economics in Hungary, and received her BSc degree with honor certificate in 2009, MSc diploma with highest honors in 2011. She obtained her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Biochemistry at Boston University in 2018 for her work in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in Professor Ahmad S. Khalil’s group.
Her research interests span systems and synthetic biology studies of epigenetic systems. She developed synthetic transcriptional control systems to regulate expression of epigenetic regulators, and to sense protein aggregation. Recently, she is interested in systems biology characterization of the dynamics and stability of synthetic epigenetic memory devices.
She received the Scholarship of Republic of Hungary in 2010, the Best Student Award at Faculty of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology at Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2010, the Boston University College of Engineering Dean’s Fellowship in 2011 and the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds PhD Fellowship in 2013.
